What is The Condiment Review?

TCR  is a humble team of three dedicated condiment connoisseurs brining you the very best, informative and bite size reviews from the world of condiments.

Our main aim is to offer you as many condiment ideas as possible, quickly summarise them and whether they offer any extra Pizzazz to your food before you try them out for yourself.  After all, if you don’t know it exists, you can’t enjoy it!

Beyond that, we’ll give ratings out of ten, (but we appreciate it’s rather subjective) so we’ll also summarise the condiment in terms of price, availability and where it sits in the context of other, similar condiments.  So if it’s a BBQ sauce, you’ll quickly know how is stands in relation to the HP version, why it might be worth trying out, what it’s nice with and, ultimately, whether it’s worth laying on the table to offer your guests to inject some extra flavour into your meal.

Who is on the TCR team?

Alex Hare (Capt’n Condiment), chief reviewer and dedicated condiment user.  There isn’t any food I wont spice up with something or other, be it simple tomato sauce on a hot dog to lashings of olive oil drizzled across a pea soup to Azorean Piemento sauce infused into my own burger recipe.  For me, food is the blank canvas upon which the art of the appropriate condiment is played out.

Favourite Condiment of All Time:

“Tomato ketchup; so useful & so versatile, from dunking chips to sweetening & thickening  rich bolognaise sauce.  For me it’s the King of Condiments!”

Dr John Whittle (Colonel Mustard), is a practicing Doctor of Anaesthesia who has experienced condiments in more countries in the Atlas than not.  He will also bring us his own scientific view on any particular condiment to better understand what is going on with the flavours and why they work so well.

Favourite Condiment of All Time:

"Strong english mustard is the best condiment. Pure heat refined."

Dr Ed Godfrey (Sgt Pepper) is a practicing Doctor of Radiology who considers that virtually any food should be complimented by a condiment, it is merely a question of which one.  His answers to this endless journey of discovery will be brought to you on TCR!  As part of the TCR Science Team, Sgt Pepper will also look at what’s actually in a condiment and what perhaps we didn’t realise lies beneath the marketing ‘puff’…
